ASAP Movers defines a local move as one where both the origin and destination are within a 100-mile radius of our Santa Maria headquarters.

How far in advance should I book a local move?
We recommend scheduling your local move at least two weeks in advance when possible. Planning ahead gives you more flexibility with your preferred moving date, although availability can vary depending on the time of year and our schedule.
Does ASAP Movers provide an in-home estimate?
Yes. ASAP Movers provides free in-home and office estimates. A moving consultant can assess your belongings, discuss the details of your move, and prepare an estimate based on the services you'll need.
How does pricing work for a local move?
Local moves are billed at an hourly rate based primarily on the size of the crew assigned to the move. Depending on the type of move and services involved, estimates may be presented as Not-to-Exceed, Binding, or Guaranteed pricing.
The goal is to provide clear expectations about what your move will cost before moving day. There are no additional fees beyond the agreed pricing unless the scope of work changes.
What can cause my local moving estimate to change?
A change in the scope of work can affect the original estimate. Examples include adding items, requesting additional packing, adding pickup or delivery stops, requiring interim storage, or encountering access challenges that weren't disclosed during the estimate.
These could include elevators, long carries, limited truck access, low-hanging branches or wires, or other obstacles.
We rarely need to issue change orders. Providing complete and accurate information during the estimate helps us price and plan your move correctly from the beginning.
Does ASAP Movers use day labor for local moves?
No. ASAP Movers does not use day labor for local moves. Our regular local moving crews are employees of ASAP Movers rather than independent subcontractors.
What happens on moving day?
Your move supervisor will coordinate with you and complete a walkthrough with the crew. The team will protect your belongings, blanket-wrap furniture, load the truck, transport your items, and unload them at your new home.
Furniture can be reassembled and belongings placed in the rooms you choose.
Can ASAP Movers handle a last-minute local move?
Sometimes. We recommend scheduling at least two weeks in advance when possible, but availability depends on our schedule. If you need to move on short notice, contact us and we'll let you know what options may be available.
